The Boothbay Region Art Foundation and Gallery
The Boothbay Region Art Foundation (BRAF) is a non-profit foundation dedicated to promoting art and artists in the Boothbay Region. The foundation provides numerous opportunities for artists to display their work, participate in off site shows and take part in classes and workshops. The membership of BRAF includes emerging artists as well as many nationally and internationally recognized artists. With 220 members and a forward-looking board of trustees, BRAF is going strong, fulfilling its mission and providing a welcoming venue for local art to be studied, viewed, and purchased. Artists and people who love the arts are invited to become members of this Foundation and be a part of a group dedicated to ensuring that the arts remain strong in the Boothbay Region. The Foundation sponsors scholarships for students studying art, art classes and workshops and day passes for the community families to enjoy the Portland Museum of the Art and the Farnsworth Gallery in Rockland.
The BRAF Gallery is located at 1 Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. In this gallery, you will find the works of established and emerging artists of the Boothbay Region and beyond. The fine art available in the gallery represents the work of painters, sculptors, print makers, photographers and other media and fine reproductions and prints. The work is available in a range of price points.
Our exhibitions run from April through December, beginning with the statewide juried Maine Photography Show in April and concluding with the wonderful Art in the Square show opening the day after Thanksgiving. Other shows include an Annual Student Show (Grades K-12), four non-juried Member Shows, ArtInME, a statewide juried fine art show, off site shows such as Art at Waterfront Park over Labor Day weekend and the Plein Air Painters of ME show. See our Calendar for specific shows, dates and hours.
Gallery Summer Hours are Monday – Saturday 10:00 am – 6:00 pm, Sunday 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. During the off season, the gallery is generally open Thursday-Sunday, but visitors should check the website for specific hours for off season shows.
