About the Boothbay Region Art Foundation

The Boothbay Region Art Foundation (BRAF), an inclusive, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has been a cornerstone of the artistic community in midcoast Maine for over 60 years. Our mission is to create opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy, learn from, and participate in the visual arts.

Our Gallery provides exhibition space for regional member artists; holds monthly exhibitions and competitions; offers classes, workshops, and lectures; and provides scholarships for regional graduating students pursuing further education in the visual arts.
Proceeds from art sales, and private/corporate donations, allow BRAF to continue its non-profit, mission of supporting and promoting youth and adult artistic endeavors in the greater Boothbay community.

The Boothbay Region Art Foundation is not your typical Gallery...

In 1963, twenty-six founding artists desired to leave a legacy to the Boothbay Region that had given them inspiration and livelihoods.  They developed the model of selling their artwork to help fund a Boothbay Region High School Scholarship Foundation to assist local college bound graduates with an interest in artistic endeavors.  Over a half a century later, the members, artists, and volunteers of the Boothbay Region Art Foundation Inc., a 501{c}(3) charitable and educational nonprofit organization, continue that operational model through the Gallery. The artists still return a portion of their sale proceeds to the Foundation to support the Gallery, the inclusion of K-12 Art Shows, and the BRAF Scholarships.  Your donations will also contribute to this long legacy of giving back, inspired by the bounty of the Boothbay Region.
